Clinical Experience. Editorial judgment. Marketing perspective.

About Me

I’m Joanna Haley, a medical writer and editor with healthcare experience since 2008. My background spans direct patient care, clinical practice ownership, and healthcare marketing, giving me insight into both the questions patients ask and the priorities of the organizations serving them.

I combine doctoral training, research evaluation, and hands-on SEO experience to turn complex medical information into clear, evidence-based content. My work includes consumer health articles, patient education, digital health resources, and patient-facing pharmacy materials.

I bring a clinician’s attention to accuracy, an editor’s judgment, and a marketer’s understanding of audience and purpose. Whether I’m developing a new resource or strengthening existing content, my goal is to make health information understandable, useful, and credible.

Medical Writing & Editorial Experience

At Eden Health International, I developed comprehensive, evidence-based health resources that translated complex research and treatment information into accessible consumer content. My work included writing, substantive editing, and refining article structure, clarity, tone, and readability.

I served as the primary reviewer for clinical accuracy across blogs and marketing materials, evaluating research, treatment claims, dosing, and safety language against current evidence. I collaborated closely with legal to qualify marketing claims and refine disclosures while preserving clear, useful messaging.

SEO Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Working within Eden’s marketing and SEO team, I used Ahrefs for keyword research and content planning, refreshed content pillars and supporting articles, strengthened topic clusters, and developed internal linking. I also optimized titles, headings, meta descriptions, slugs, FAQs, and key takeaways to align content with search intent.

As a liaison across marketing, telehealth operations, pharmacy, and branding, I contributed clinical and editorial guidance to clarify treatment information, connect messaging with service delivery, and support business priorities.

I also worked closely with the branding team to develop patient-facing marketing materials for pharmacy inserts. This work brought together medical writing, patient education, and brand messaging, extending my editorial contributions beyond digital content to printed materials delivered directly to patients.

A Clinical Perspective

Before Eden, I owned and operated acupuncture and functional medicine practices, working directly with patients to understand complex health concerns and develop individualized care plans. I integrated health histories, functional laboratory testing, and genetic information to guide nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations.

Patient education was central to my work. I explained laboratory findings, the rationale for supplement recommendations, and practical next steps in accessible language, helping patients understand their care.

That experience informs my medical writing: translating complex information clearly, anticipating readers’ questions, and communicating benefits, risks, and uncertainties with care.
